Eye Candy Friday: Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore is one of the few child actors to make the transition into adult roles, and frankly be successful at it.  Her breakout role was in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial but her first film appearance was in 1980’s Altered States.  She struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, and has been in rehab twice.  In 1990 she opened her own production studio, Flower Films which produced most of her vehicles, but probably most surprising was Donnie Darko.

In 2007, she was named Ambassador Against Hunger for the United Nations Food Programme.  In 2010 she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film for her portrayal of Little Edie in Grey Gardens.

I really enjoy Drew’s work, save for a film or two that left me a bit bored (I think Riding in Cars with Boys might have been one of those).  Oh, and as much as I loved Ever After I didn’t care for her accent…but it’s still better than Madonna’s.

It’s not so much that Drew is beautiful… she is… but she has the most amazing attitude. I guess you would have to considering what she has experienced in her life.
